Though he never captured a large audience during his short lifetime, Nick Drake achieved worldwide recognition for his minimal, fragile and touching contemporary folk. In fact, two of his most critically acclaimed albums sold less than 5,000 copies each on their initial release.
It wasn’t until the mid-1980s that a new generation of singer / songwriters emerged in popular culture, citing Nick Drake’s music as fundamental to their sound.
Press often likes to refer to Nick Drake as a ‘doomed romantic’ however we think that is far too simplistic and overlooks the beautiful music and poetry produced by this great mind.
We always come back to Nick Drake as the snow starts melting, the temperature rises and Spring is on the horizon.
